My mom was a resident of Fremont Hills for 2 1/2 years. She felt very comfortable with her living arrangements. All levels of the staffing showed concern, friendliness, compassion toward my mom and our family. Joan and her staff brought smiles to my mom. Our family deeply appreciates all you’ve done!
After being diagnosed with early stage dementia, our mom resisted any talk of moving from her home and into an assisted living facility. As the weeks and months passed, mom’s ability to live alone in her home became increasingly difficult. Taking away the keys to her car was devastating for her. Losing her memory, mobility and independence finally made her realize the risks of living alone.
After touring several assisted living facilities in the Fremont, Union City area, mom and our family made the Fremont Hills Assisted Living facility the last stop in our search for her new home. Within an hour of the tour, there was no doubt in our minds that Fremont Hills was the place for mom.
Within two weeks we moved mom into a comfortable 1 bedroom apartment with a full kitchen, large living/dining room and a large bathroom/walk-in shower with an amazing view of the hills. From her first day, mom was not only made to feel welcome by the staff, but the residents, her new neighbors, contributed daily to her comfort and well-being.
The dining room facilities were spotless and the service was impeccable. The large patio area offers great lounging and celebration options for residents and family members as well. The daily activity schedule offered a variety of social functions and activities for all residents.
As mom’s health declined, Fremont Hills advanced care options ensured her continued comfort and care. Mom’s residency at Fremont Hills lasted a mere 12 months until her passing, but it left lasting memories of relief, comfort and joy for our entire family.
If your loved one requires the ultimate in comfort and care, please give your utmost consideration to Fremont Hills Assisted Living.
I visited Fremont Hills and it looked like a wonderful facility. It was very nice. They have a memory care unit. The facility was lovely. The gentleman was very helpful and gave me a nice tour, answering all the questions that he could. The apartments they showed me were very nice and the sizes were nice. The facility was clean and modern, and it was very lovely. There was a calendar of activities and things all around showing the different activities that they have.
We chose this community for my mom after being referred here and on the reviews. They Have restaurant quality food. The place is always clean and kept up. There are nice courtyard area’s. The activities are out of this world and getting my mom to be more active and social like concerts weekly, tai chi, and field trips. They help her to her appointments. I would recommend this community to my friends and family.
My mom has been at Fremont Hills for 9 months now. We moved her there since she was living alone and she started to have memory issues, and making meals, driving around, and managing a lot of the daily activities started to become difficult for her. Rhoda was great in helping us convince mom it was time to make this change at this stage in life, and she worked with our family to make sure number one, the program met my mom’s needs. Things aren’t always straightforward, but Rhoda and the nursing staff made sure mom’s placement was the right fit. It gives me great comfort now knowing my mom is not alone, but she is safe, and she is with people who keep her socially active. As a daughter, I can be overly anxious and overprotective limiting my mom in what she can or can’t do, but the administration and staff at Fremont Hills who deal with the elderly have been so encouraging to her, that I could take a few lessons from them. In the last month my mom has been to an evening senior event, been to church on her own with FH, gone to Kaiser for her flu shot without me, and been on bus outings to shopping plazas with FH. I love how she is encouraged to be independent and the bus driver just tells her to hop on for a joy ride around Fremont! The staff, especially the front desk/concierge, are wonderful. They are very helpful, courteous, professional, and are engaged with the residents and their families. They are aware of my mom’s routine, and are quick to call out if anything is out of the ordinary. My mom loves seeing their welcoming smiling faces throughout the day. Such a contrast from her old days of just sitting in her room alone watching TV. She still has her alone time in her own apartment when she wants to be there, but she seems to know a lot of the other residents by name, and the staff are quick to acknowledge her with a hello. FH does a great job of encouraging existing residents to reach out to new residents and make them feel welcome. The front desk also has been the extra layer of protection my mom needed because they can screen out unknown visitors my mom used to entertain while living alone. Transitions aren’t always smooth, but one nurse in particular, Asmat, helped us deal with a touchy situation with mom when she first moved in because mom wasn’t happy about giving up control. Asmat was able to calm her and just let her know we all want the best for her. My mom also has a special name for a chef in the kitchen who has been willing to make her half sandwiches for a mid morning snack. It’s really nice to know he goes the extra mile to accommodate a resident who isn’t yet hungry at breakfast. Joan, the director, has been great staying in touch with our family, making sure we know she has an open door policy if we have any concerns, or if we have any feedback that can be helpful to them. I am grateful my mom is safe, cared for, and has been able to stay socially active while at Fremont Hills.
